A Tender Thing

by ben power

Ben Power’s A Tender Thing offers a deeply moving reimagining of Romeo and Juliet, exploring love not as a fleeting passion but as a lifelong journey.

Romeo and Juliet, Reimagined

What if the world’s most famous lovers had grown old together? Tony Award-winner Ben Power (The Lehman Trilogy) masterfully reshapes Shakespeare’s original text, weaving a poignant tale of enduring love, loss, and devotion. First staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company, this version of Romeo and Juliet reveals the profound connection that only a lifetime together can create.

'A wonderfully crafted reworking... extraordinary' ― Whatsonstage.com

'Incredibly effective, the language made fresh, its nerve endings exposed.' ― The Stage

Angela Witcher

Creative Producer

Ladies and gentlemen, lords and ladies, and anyone who just wandered merrily across thus website by good fortune — prepare to be introduced to the one, the only, Angela Witcher, the driving force behind the Tasmanian Shakespeare Company.

A maestro of microbudget miracles, Angela juggles casting tantrums, lighting disasters, and questionable prop choices with the finesse of a jester dodging a flying tomato.  Whether it’s reimagining Hamlet with a ukulele orchestra or giving Macbeth a zombie apocalypse makeover, Angela is your guide through the chaos of the Bard's brilliance.

So grab your doublet, don your best ruff, and brace yourself for a Shakespearean experience like no other—thanks to Angela, the Creative Producer who makes the impossible improbably fabulous.

Racheal Leigh

Asst. Creative Producer

Every genius needs a partner-in-chaos, and Racheal Leigh is the Banquo to our Macbeth (minus the ghostly revenge).  As Assistant Creative Producer, Racheal is the unsung hero who keeps the backstage bedlam from spilling onto the stage—most of the time.

With a talent for wrangling actors, untangling prop dilemmas, and ensuring the wine glass never runs dry, Racheal is the glue that holds this Shakespearean ship together.  Whether brainstorming wild ideas for Much Ado About Karaoke or convincing the cast that yes, the sword fights do need choreography, Racheal brings a touch of magic to every production.

In short, if Angela is the ringleader, Racheal is the whip-smart sidekick who helps makes the madness work.
